Groundbreaking Functionality in Medical and Healthcare
Usability in IT and Wearable Fields - Promoting Popularization
Compatibility... Applicable to Products in Various Industries
Wave Company, a wearable technology specialist, has successfully commercialized its flexible soft sensor, "TracSil" (Tracking Silicone).
According to the company, TracSil is a wearable sensor that attaches to fabric to precisely monitor health status and movement. It utilizes Wave Company’s core silicone textile technology, offering high flexibility and durability. Made from a special washable silicone material, TracSil can measure joint angles in 10-degree increments, making it highly effective for detecting and analyzing various movements.
#Groundbreaking Functionality Expected in Medical and Healthcare
Wave Company anticipates that TracSil will have a significant impact in the medical industry. It addresses contact issues with traditional metal plates or gel pads in surgical electrodes (Patient Plates), thereby reducing the risk of burns to patients. Additionally, in EMS (electrical stimulation) treatments for hair loss, TracSil’s flexible, body-conforming design can be adjusted to fit the contours of the scalp.
#Usability and Popularization in IT and Wearable Fields
In the IT and wearable sectors, TracSil complements GPS and IMU sensors, enabling more precise movement measurement. It has high potential for widespread use, especially in the fitness and healthcare B2B markets, where athlete and patient management are crucial. This sensor is made by screen-printing silicone coating onto fabric, providing a competitive price advantage through a simple manufacturing process. Compared to complex traditional IMU sensors, TracSil offers greater convenience and intuitive usability, which the company expects will accelerate the popularization of healthcare IT technology.
#High Compatibility… Application Across Various Industrial Products
Wave Company has developed a method of coating stretch textiles with silicone, which lowers production costs and enables high-value revenue generation. Currently, TracSil supports five levels of angle differentiation, with plans to expand the range of angles for broader use in rehabilitation, medical, and industrial fields. TracSil can endure over 10,000 deformation cycles and detect movement, offering an easier way to measure human motion compared to IMU or visual sensors. It is also highly compatible with a variety of hardware devices, making it suitable for applications across multiple industries.
#Application of Wave Company’s Fitness Innovation Solution "TracMe"
Wave Company sells its WaveWear brand of kinesiology sports taping braces, sleeves, compression wear, and leggings, which are produced domestically using proprietary technology, both in South Korea and internationally. The fitness solution TracMe, which incorporates TracSil, automatically tracks exercises and provides coaching feedback to help users achieve their goals. It won an Innovation Award in the Digital Health category at CES 2024.
Nancy Cho, CEO of Wave Company, stated;
"We believe that TracSil technology can expand into various fields, including healthcare, mechatronics, robotics, and preventive physical therapy management, and will be useful for rehabilitation, senior health management, and industrial monitoring in the future. We look forward to collaborating with various partners to contribute to advancements in digital health."
